Title: Looking for a sailing school that would adopt our ComPac16
Post by: John-b on June 17, 2012, 07:43:30 PM
Hi,

Just joined the board to see if there are any sailing schools out there interested in adopting our ComPac 16. She is a 1975, and has hosted some beautiful days out on the lakes of NH, VT, ME, and even some sailing around Martha's Vineyard, but unfortunately she has got lonely over the last few years since we purchased a much larger cruiser we have sailed along the east coast. Our ComPac16 has brand new North sails (never used, but that may change next weekend)with her hull number on the sail just as the originals had. I have a few modifications I have made, a mahogany ladder mounted to the stern, some wiring for lights, signal horn etc, and a mast base extension to get that boom a little bit higher. admittedly the trailer is probably of more value than the boat...after two problems with the original trailer on the way to lake champlaign, I bought a new tandom trailer that is oversized for the boat about four years ago.

We love this sailboat and cannot bear to think of it auctioned off for parts. Our hope is that there is a sailing school that would like to use a boat like this either in their instruction, or as a more stabile alternative for handicapped students. I am willing to discuss donating the boat to a school that intends to sail her. will also entertain offers from families that want to sail her, but I haven't got the heart to put a for sale sign on her.

Sending this from my phone offshore, but when back in NH I can post pictures, just hoped to find a sympathetic crowd in this forum

Welcome to the forum, John.

Have you thought about donating the boat to a Sea Scout Ship? My kids belonged to one some years back and loved every minute. They didn't have a sailboat but would have really liked to have one. Check with your local BSA Council.
