... and got it again this weeked. Met three new sailors in our marina with a Bristol 32, O'Day 22, Catalina 25. When I introduced myself to them as I walked down the dock, they inquired as to which boat was mine. When I told them they said they had wondered who owned that boat, it is without a doubt, the nicest boat in the marina. A nice compliment since there is also a Pacific Seacraft Crealock 37 in our marina. Glad to get some new and active sailors, too many of the sailboats in our marina never leave the dock. I see an overnight raft up in the future.
Great sail yesterday, very unusual for this time of year. Steady winds 12-14 out of the SE which makes for a comfortable broad reach up lake, close reach back. Tempertures never got above 85 with mostly cloudy conditions. Sailed for a couple of hours with Admiral Sheri then anchored in blue flower cove for a late lunch and a swim. That temperature and wind condition very rare in the summer on Bay Springs Lake.
Me too, Brack. Almost every time I'm at the slip for any length of time to do maintenance, or just to hang out in the sun, swarms of able bodied sailors gather like mayflies around Island Time. Practically have to shoo them off in order to exit the marina.
One couple saw it from the shore and walked down to meet me as I exited the security gate with questions: "What kind of boat is that?". "Is it for sale?" "Will you teach me to sail?"
And Bob23 thinks it's only Koinonia who receives paparazzi attention! :) Nay, Nay!!
Those Com-pac lines are just too much for others to ignore.
I do get the same thing sometimes. Something like: "Who's that old fart on the beautiful sailboat?" Let's face it: Our boats turn heads...they are proper designs. Koinonia's been called, without any prompting from me:" The prettiest boat in the harbor." Not kidding.

It's the shear that draws peoples eyes to the Com-Pac's. And short, blunt nosed stubby appeal.

Also the proportion of freeboard, cabin height and length, and cockpit length all makes for a real pretty boat. When you've been in residential construction long enough and have the opportunity to work with "real" architects on some very creative projects, you develope an eye for proper design, be it homes, boats, furniture, etc. To my eye, the 23 is just about a perfect design proportionately. When they're in great condition, they look even better.

I got it this weekend. After motoring the Sunday Cat to a slip at Hurricane Grille in Tavares, Florida and panting up to the bar for a cooled one, a retiree leaving the restauarant commented to me, "That sailboat has the nicest lines... it is good to see you out enjoying the lake in such a fine sailboat." Whoohee! Yeah! I couldn't agree more!
