Title: bogue sound = no overnights?
Post by: shamblin on May 20, 2012, 08:20:27 PM
sailors,

kayak camping on bear island just south of bogue inlet has me wondering about 1- using bogue inlet to go from the atlantic to the ICW and 2 about overnight anchoring in bogue sound.   clayborne young's cruising guide says avoid bogue inlet without local knowledge.and there seem to be limited anchoring in the mapbook for bogue sound, but one in the white oak river.    young only tends to call something an anchorage if it protects on 2-3 sides.

Looking at the bogue sound depths though i can imagine possibilities.  does anyone have any cruising advice on this area for a 27" draft boat?

thanks,
