Title: Great day on the lake
Post by: 21usmc47 on May 19, 2012, 06:06:08 PM
I took the boat out again today, the wind was suppose to be light to non existent. Lucky for us we had spurts, maybe 20-30 minutes of good wind; enough to heal her over a bit and put a smile on my face. I'm now thinking my sails may still have a bit of life left in them. CLEARLY learning as I go. I hope you guys were able to get out on the water as well today.

We got out today as well.  Winds were 15-20 mph.  We opted for less heeling today and sailed our new main with one reef and the 110% jib.  It worked out great.  We sailed downwind for a few miles and then tacked our way back to the marina.  We never started the outboard.  A large US Customs boat cut in front of us as we approached the dock and we had to steer to the other side of the dock at the last minute.  About five strokes with the paddle got us to the dock as we lost momentum with the quick course change.  It was another great day to be out on the water in our CP-16!
