So I contacted Bomar early last week and tried to call them 2 times, both times being on hold for over 40 minutes..... one time on hold for that 40 minutes and then it switched me and said they were closed now.......
No return on my emails.....

Anyway, I need to replace or rebuild the 2 latches on it.
Thru the purchaser at the marina I was told to contact Pompanette..... Anyone have any clue what latches I can use?

I am also looking for a screen as well. it has that trim ring, just no screen.
I've had a similar experience. Ended up getting help from Defender's special order department, who were very responsive. Before you start, suggest you use the "quiz" on the Bomar web site to verify the model of your existing hatch.
My front hatch has a rod inside it to hold it open. That seems to be in the way of putting a screen on the outside, so I figure I'll have to make something to hold a screen on the inside. Oh, and measure or something to get the screen. Ugh.
Velcro a screen at the black surround under the rod.
The problem is you'll have to pull the screen to twist-lock the rod.

Are the Bowmar hatches a stock size that fits a 19II? I looked in a West Marine catalog for a starting investigation and the sizes listed didn't seem to match what I have. I have yet to look at a Bowmar or Lewmar website.

That screen looks pretty good. My CP 23 doesn't have a window, just the fiberglass hatch. I could possibly smooth out the inside so the suction cup would stick; maybe just use some of that painter's tape to tape it up there, haha. I'll measure the hole I'm trying to cover, and then if this will fit, I"ll probably use it. Thanks for the tip.
Anybody got a cool companionway hatch screen idea? I'll be looking. I do have a large mosquito net I can try to fling over. It may need some fishing weights in the hem of it so it stays down, though.
I really need to re-make my companionway hatch, and make it a two part one. Then, I could make a substitute screen board for one or both halves. Meanwhile, though, I might try to make a roll up screen that has several cross pieces that slide down and stop at various heights in the slanted opening. Saw one like that somewhere.
Bruce - I have rebuilt the hatches on both my 19/2 and 27/2, replacing the gaskets, latches (dogs), and riser arms. I got good support from Bomar, who still carry parts for the older products (mine are 1988).
These hatches will last forever if you replace the parts that commonly wear out. New hatches are extremely expensive, and removing the old ones is no walk in the park.
Recommend you call their New Hampshire office at (603) 826 5791 during East Coast business hours and ask for help with parts for older hatches. Have the hatch and a tape measure available while you are on the phone. With their help I determined mine were extruded high profile type, and Bomar gave me part numbers that worked perfectly. I ordered the parts through Defender because they offer a discount and have an excellent special order department (Cheryl Gerfin is the amazing queen of special order, cgerfin@defender.com).
I also bought a headlight polishing kit at Autozone and used it to buff out the scratches and haze on my plexiglas. Not difficult and the results make it look almost as good as a new hatch. It's easiest to remove the upper half of the hatch and do this on the kitchen table.
