Title: Boca Ciega Yacht Club Gulfport Fl Open House
Post by: HideAway on April 25, 2012, 07:30:30 PM
If you are in the area and have a mind to stop by this Saturday 1-4 our sailing club is having an open house with free sailboat rides around Boca Ciega Bay.

Somehow I must have gotton King Neptune really mad at me as I and my wife were charmed into coordinating 15 sailboats ranging in size from 22 to 45 feet to give about 300 people sailboat rides that afternoon - based on last years stats -  should be interesting.

Anyway its a lot of fun with vendors  and hot dogs  and soda and lots and lots of  really good door prizes.

The club is on the south side of Gulfport Marina  along the channel - do not come by boat   www.sailbcyc.org

And as an added bonus you get to see HideAways brand new trailer tire -- such a deal

We somehow managed to survive the day.   We had a fleet of 19 sailboats ranging from 22 to 45 feet and scheduled rides for 284 people over four hours.  It was quite a day - we could not see the docks or the boats so all the communication was over the VHF.     With three dockmasters 19 boats and our base operation it was hard to know who was wanting what.    Several folks came up to me and asked to see that tire and I did meet the fellow that has hull number 1 of the 23s.  It is in a shed being completely refurbished.   The Survivors party after was short and subdued as everybody was whipped.   There were around 600 attendees  and everyone who boarded a boat came back - all and all a good day
