Title: a sad sight
Post by: kickingbug1 on December 16, 2011, 02:53:35 PM
is there anything sadder than a sailboat sitting in the corner of ones garage knowing that a long cold winter is just around the corner?

Yes,

A breezy 60 degree day, and having to work rather than sail.

No, My 19 floats in her slip 24/7/360  (5 days for haul & inspection).  BUT! That will change in the next year or so when I begin to foray to more southern waters during the winter.

One of my Italian friends, Dom Buccola, asked me what does S'Go (My 19's name) mean?

I replied " It's short for ' C'mon, Lets Go!'"

He said "Oh!, you mean, ANDIAMO!  That's the same thing in Italian."

Got me to thinking about a name change that means the same thing, only more Jersey like.

Yes,

The abandoned Compacs at the marina sitting on trailers and under ripped tarps just waiting for that first hard freeze to decompose the concrete in the flooded bilges.  By next Spring the bunks will be rotted as well.

CitroenD:
Where are these abandoned Compacs you speak of? I'll send the authorities from the Society for the Humane Treatment of Compac Sailboats to confiscate them and distribute them to those of us in need. It's the Christmas thing to do.

Such sad, sad tails...  What's a poor salt to do?  Drown those sorrows in Rum I guess.  I will hoist a glass to all of you still on the water, and one day closer to the next season!

Still squeezing out a few more sailing days.  Today was high 50s and offshore winds at 6 to 8 knots.  A little cool late in the day but a day on the boat is a day on the boat.  January and February will be tough but with a little luck I will still get a day here and there, if nothing more than motoring down the intracoastal.  Happy holidays to you all.

Hangover Regatta was today.  Mid 80s with light sea breeze.  I hear there was snow in Minneapolis last night.
