Title: New Compac 16 sailing in 20 mph winds Ocala National Forestr
Post by: mandolinut on December 03, 2011, 08:15:55 PM
Not new to sailing but a new owner of a Compac 16. Took her out today with solid 20 mph East winds on Lake Kerr, Ocala National Forest, Florida. All white
capped so used the jib instead of the genoa ( good choice).  This little girl can give you a ride! Had to point up on the gust to keep her from sailing on her side. Deck was awash but I stayed dry. What a blast. First time out in winds over 10 mph with the 16. I am quickly finding out what she likes and what she can do :0)
Plan on taking her up to Wisconsin on Lake Superior next Summeer.

i've tried to get up there (apostle islands) or the north channel the last couple of years, but something always comes up.  if you go and want company, leave a post.  you get several tag-a longs.

Hi Carl,
I will be in Ashland, Wisconsin.  I have the Apostle islands in mind for exploring and beach combing. About 12-15 miles by water.
