is it just me, or does that "jib" look like a mainsail from a sunfish?

I she's equipped with those very rare CP 16 factory upgrades - the "fixed lead keel" and "whisper pole." A "must-see," indeed.

I thought the same thing.

And the jib does look funny, maybe it's just the angle of the photo, and the jib is polled out? Maybe.

I am in Pensacola. Took a look at this 16 when it came on the market several months ago @$3500.
The sails were not bent on when I looked and I was not sufficiently interested to drag them out. Something strange about the jib...but no bow pulpit to spoil the shape.
Did not keep my notes. I believe the HIN was '81.
The motor is a 2HP Merc-no reverse-Quite new.
The trailer is above average.
The paint work bothered me, a brush job with quite visible stroke marks and looked like the deck fittings were not removed before painting. Some deck fittings were rebedded with way too much 5200 or other adhesive.
Keel looked standard, which would be concrete and perhaps some lead scrap.
The price is approaching a fair buy, but some work would be needed to feel great about the boat.

I see an '81 on Craigslist Orlando $3000. The boat is in Clermont, has three or four sails and what looks like a foil rudder blade,Ida or similar. Looks squared away in the pix. Could just be the Kodachrome.

Also, a nice '84 in Summerville ,SC@ $3400. It is a blue hull, tenth anniversay model. I've looked at this early in August. Surprised it is still on the market. The owners bought a Catalina 25 and I think there is some flex in their pricing. Has a few hull scrapes which leaves white lines. Quite visible but fixible.

Right now there are about ten CP-16s around the SE priced from $1000 to $6500. Lots to look at and a wide range of quality.

The jib looks exactly like a Sunfish sail. The whisper pole is for sneaking up on the leaders in a race just before you unleash that jib.
In other 16 news, in the recent issue of "Messing about in Boats" there is a 1976 16 in Punta Gorda Fl. with 4 hp outboard and new main and porta potti for $800.00 Contact Bob Hoyle at (941) 637-5724. I have no firsthand knowledge of this boat....just reading the ad to ya'll.
