Should the base of the compression post bear on the center line/keel or terminate above the concrete with through bolts to the partial bulkhead? Thanks.
The post is bolted to the bulkhead ABOVE the cement of the keel.
The post does not rest on anything.
The factory reason for this is that the vertical height of the deck house above the hull/deck seam varies just enough so that a consistent length of the compression post could not be established. Additionally as the deck house compresses or relaxes and the hull does also things move and the one sure way to break something or stress crack the 'gel coat' is to try to stop it from moving.
skip.
Skip, thanks for the answer. That is what I saw when looking at a unit for sale.
