I must admit to a bit of embarrassment asking for this help. But many moons ago when first reviewing all the great posts on this forum I came across some great pics of a rig someone made out of wood to hold the mast securely while boat is on trailer. One for a 23 would be very similar but do support the front (base) of the mast with lines, tape, however you can secure it...
Here's the aft support on my 19...laying on the rear stern rail seats with a small vertical "alley" for the mast to sit in. Attached to the stern rails. Kinda complicated how it attaches but it uses those screws with one end a wood screw, the other a machine screw. The machined end sticks out around each side of the rails, a routed out a small area for the crutch to slide around the rails. An old CP16 chainplate goes behind the rails and attaches to the screws with wingnuts on each side (4 total screws, two for each side). Very easy to take on an off. If you zoom in and look closely you'll see the attachment points.

It was just made out of junk wood and it was the only ugly item left on the boat when I sold her. If it was made out of decent wood and finished properly it would have been great. It went on/off easily and it was nice to have the trailer lights up out of the water.
