Title: Swim platform
Post by: celken2002 on March 16, 2011, 08:38:57 AM
I have a 1983 16 and was wondering if I could fit a swim platform ladder that is 22 inches wide
on my boat. Also how long of a bimini top would fit .

Thanks Ken

Hang the ladder. Forget the platform.
It's only a 16.

agreed,
you can get a ladder that hooks on to the side of the gunwale and you don't need to drill any holes and it is alot cheaper, and cleaner when not in use.

Thanks for the info guys I will probably hang a ladder without the platform because it doesn't seem to be wide enough.
A over the rail ladder is out of the question because my wife and I are both in our mid 60"s

When we had our 16 it had a nice little ladder/platform mounted on it by a PO.  It was never in the way or "too big"  for the little boat.  It was actually nice to be able to come aboard from a swim and stand on the platform to dry off instead of dripping inside the cockpit.  I would have liked one or two more steps on the swing down ladder.  It would have made it easier to reach the first rung from the water.
