Somewhere on this forum, I think I saw a very small nickle or stainless steel lamp attached to the compression post of a 16 or 19. Not sure, but I thought the post stated it was an alcohol lamp. Had a reflector on the back side. Lamp and all only appeared to be about 6 inches tall.
Does anyone know where one of these can be found. I have searched the internet for a hour, with no luck.

In the past we used a small Alpine Candle Lamp in our cabin. It didn't give off enough lite to read by, but it gave a cozy glow and dried out the air. This year my three kids got together and bought me a Weems and Plath Model 700 oil lamp. It is only 10" tall. W & P also sells a mini lamp which is only 7" high. Amazon or eBay are good sources for either one. They are available in brass or chrome finishes.

How much light does your W&P lamp actually give off? I also have a small candle lantern that looks cool but doesn't give off hardly any light. More for effect than function.

This is the kind of candle lantern we were using in our CP's. It gave off just enough light to see inside the cabin to find items and maneuver, but not nearly enough light to read by.

The W&P has a 1/2" wide wick which can be adjusted for a flame height of 1/8" to 1" or more. It puts off a pretty decent amount of light and should help warm up a damp cabin at night. I read somewhere that to have full reading light in a liveaboard sailboat that you need one oil lamp with a 1" wide wick. I would think that with the small area we have in our 19 cabins the 1/2" wide version would work pretty well. I would rather purchase a second 10" W&P to light when we are reading than have one oversized (1" wick) lamp to use all the time. My Model 700 (10" tall) is supposed to run an average flame for up to 30 hours on one 5 oz. fill. Even the little Model 600 (7" tall) is supposed to burn for 12 hours per fill.
I'd love to have one of the hurricane wall mounted units , but in our 19 there just isn't enough room.

The VHF radio and fire extinguisher use existing fasteners. No new holes except that black thumb screw for the ST-40 Unit and antenna cable for VHF, a 3 way bilge pump switch by fuse panel and masthead lamp master switch for eye.

I have the same sort of mood light in the cabin and one in the cockpit that is wired to the NAV lights. On my to-do list is switch to turn one or both off. At night this dim LED light seem very bright.
With the cost of LED cabin lighting coming down and some of the clusters quite bright and drawing very little power, the days of the oil lantern and candle may be numbered.
The whale oil business isn't what it used to be.
