Activities Aug 5-6.
LOCATION: Carlyle Lake, IL. South of I-70, about 50 miles east of St. Louis
http://www.carlylelake.com/
LAUNCH RAMP:
Due to high water, the high water ramp next to the West Access Marina (far Southwest side of lake) needs to be used. There is a small, $3 or $4 fee to launch and retrieve here.
AGENDA:
Thursday: Open, nothing scheduled. Sail as much as you see fit.
Friday Daytime: Sailing, sailing and more sailing. Raft up near dam, south side of lake appx 1:00pm.
Friday evening: Bretz Wildlife Winery. Happy hour and dinner.
Saturday Datime: More sailing and another raftup at 1:00. Expect a water cannon fight :)
Saturday Evening: BBQ at the West Access Marina shelterhouse. If you did not reserve with kicknbug, there won't be enough food for you (sorry, but there was plenty of time to reserve)
Sunday: Open date. Sailing all day. No specific events planned.
BRING YOUR LUNCH WITH YOU ON THE BOAT!!!
FEES: No event fees. Your costs are what you spend on lodging, gas, food, etc. This is a loosely organized event by owners, for owners.
The BBQ will cost a few bucks per person. If you did not RSVP to kicknbug for the BBQ, do not expect to eat. Note due to high water, we need to use the pay ramp at West Access Marina. I believe it's $3 or $4 to launch, the same to retrieve (bring singles and read the signage)
T-SHIRTS and GOODIES:
-Four official Com-pac hats will be given away as prizes (thank you Gerry).
-Gift bags will be given away as door prizes to all (yes, there may be stuff *INSIDE* the bags :)
-An unknown surprise from the Greene's for each boat.

RADIO COMMUNICATION: VHF Channel: 3. FRS Channel 3 GMRS Channel 3
OTHER: Other sailors are invited. This is a Com-pac owners event but we'll welcome other boats, so feel free to invite friends/family with other sailboats. The county is not "dry"...beer, wine, booze are available in town in needed. A restaurant is next door to the Microtel and others are in town closeby. If using the ramp next to the West Access marina, BE SURE TO PAY THE SMALL HONOR SYSTEM FEE. There is an outdoor box located at the front of the parking lot to insert an envelop with cash. I don't know what fines or penalties exist for not paying this fee. Plan on $4 per launch or retrieval.

Salty - Thanks for putting all this info together in one place. Hopefully we'll get even more boats and sailors involved this year. It would be great if some some 23's to 27's and a few cats would join in.
Thanks again,
Mike
com-pac sailors, mike (aka salty19) pretty much has the event down pat. i figure on thursday night (4th) will be an informal get together (beer disposal) at either the microtel or over at the marina (play it by ear) I'll bring some bud light. friday some sailing and friday night the meet and greet (dinner) at bretzs winery and probably more marina socializing. saturday will be sailing and a raft up for lunch, drinks and swimming (and buffet music im sure). sat night bbq (location tbd) sunday sailing, raft up with the drinking eating and lying. after that we pretty much play it by ear. anyway the details will be ironed out (it worked last year). speaking for all those in attendance last year, you will have a great time and be in the company of wonderful people (what more could anyone want) . im sure those at the marina might do some night cruising---hope you can find your way back.
I'm just the messenger, thanks to kicknbug for organizing the event.
As mentioned, the final schedule will be edited in the first post once everything is set in stone.
Anyone considering going should absolutely attend if your schedule allows. You will not regret it!
Bump...only 5 months to go until CLR2011. Get your reservations done before rooms and slips are sold out!!
Myself and the new owner of the "Joyce Marie" plan to attend the festivities at Carlyle Lake this year. She was bought by another Bob from Indianapolis, and is going to be going to her new home on April 16th. I view that with mixed emotions thrilled to see her go to a good new owner, sorry to see her go, she is truly a wonderful little vessel. But looking forward to seeing you all there.
Bob D. and Bob T.
Bob and Bob, great to hear you'll both be there!
As of now we have 11 boats coming to the Rendezvous.
4 CP19's
1 Eclipse
5 CP16's
1 C22
Would be great to see at least one CP23 and a catboat or two!
I'm going to seriously consider this trip, sure looks and sounds like fun. Thanks for arranging.
Would love to meet y'all
Deb and the Jean Marie(1984,16)
deb sure hope you can come. you wont be sorry. i GARRONTEE it. check salty 19s pictures.
Deb, sure hope you and the "Jean Marie" can make it!
For those coming to the rendezvous, please reply here with your confirmation. I'm sure kicknbug needs a head count for reserving a room at the winery on Friday night--sooner than later would be good.
Two of us coming here...Salty (Mike) and Admiral Becky. CP19XL..the gayest boat of them all.
The 2 Bob's will b e there with the little blue Compac 16.
Brenda and I will be there in a blue or brown or burgundy or ..... hulled CP19/II. B will have the Brandy Slushies again, but I will be leaving the infamous "Pink Thing" home this year. We plan on coming in Thursday Aug 4th and staying in the marina through Saturday Aug 13th. We are really slow sailors, so we need the extra days to get all the way around the lake.
Mike and Admiral B
Add 2 more to the count. Although I rarely drink alcoholic beverages, a good red wine is hard to pass up.
We already have a slip and motel room reserved. I hope someone knows the correct ceremony for the renaming of a boat, as it looks like this will be our maiden voyage in our new-2-us Compac 19/II.
Carl & Joan
S/V miss adventures
Carl and Joan- Sounds good, we are looking forward to meeting you guys.
We can probably accomodate the boat renaming ceremony at a raft up. It would be an honor. Just need to find a virgin willing to pee on your bow. Hmm...that could be an issue!!
rwdsr--Thanks for the confirmation. Should we count on you both at the BBQ and winery as well?
Greene--Definitely do not forget the Brandy Slushes! We'll have a colorful fleet of boats there this year-that is for sure. (one blue, one teal and one ???).
cant wait until august. eleven boats will rule the lake and even a mothership (the 22). the lake is still way up with the only ramps in use being keysport and the high water ones. im sure it will be fine by middle of next month although i think the raft up will have to be in the same location as last time. to the newcomers---we know you wont be sorry. i know the price of gas sucks especially for those making a long trip. we will do our best to ensure a memorable trip. in regards to the "pink thing". i wear my "prized" shirt pretty often but i havent had a fight yet. helps to be big and ugly i guess. anyone that needs advice or help call me at home (618) 588-3889. maybe one day i will actually sail my 16.
Will be starting work on hull#59 this Friday. (Launch day for the restored Guppy 13 is Thursday). Try to be there, but don't know which boat will be behind the car.
Larry, glad to hear you're considering the event. Good luck with the restoration..these boats are absolutely worth refurbishing.
looks like carlyle lake will be at normal pool come rendezvous time. i got the word that all the ramps are open and the docks in place. sadly i havent had time to sail. a little tip ---dont build a house bigger than you want to paint. finished the bedroom today so maybe sailing this week might happen.
This event is shaping up nicely! There will be roughly a dozen boats coming at this point..more may follow. We've bypassed the fleet stage and are entering armada territory!
There was some discussion earlier about inviting other boats. Has anyone done this? (ie the trailer sailor forum or other means)?
i mentioned it to a sailor from st. louis, and he remarked that he would meet me there with his starwind 19.
he didn't specify how many days.
i could mention it on the trailer sailors organization's site if you'd like.
carl
Carl- Sure go ahead and post it on the trailer sailor forum. The more the merrier!
Because kicknbug needs to have a count of folks for the winery and BBQ, I need for any new attendees to email me at islandtimesail at gmail dot com for reservations for these two events BY JULY 15, 2011. No reservation=no winery seating or BBQ. All other events are "open" to anyone who shows up without reservations.
Everyone that has confirmed thus far is on the list. However new attendees need to email me.
mike, thanks for taking care of the attendees list. i will check (probably tomorrow) with the winery. there might be a cost for reserving a private room so i might have to pass the hat. but it shouldnt be much. if that is the case i will post the amount here. to all attending i would like to know who will be using the ramp at hazlett and who is staying at west access marina. i figure that we should try and sail together on saturday which would mean that the west access sailors would sail north and the hazlett sailors sail south, (that time of year the winds are mostly out of the southwest) as soon as we all get together we can proceed to the raft up site near the south shore swimming area (same as last year). i can provide three radios if needed. for those sailing friday, we try to get together (using the radios---and of course keeping an eye open for the best looking boats on the lake. everyone needs to give themselves enough time to return in time for the meet and greet at the winery. last year the wind was down friday morning and didnt get good until later that afternoon. as to rafting up, the lake should still be pretty high in august so a party on the beach probably wont happen. bring something to float on (couple of noodles work just fine) and a good hat. i might bring an umbrella this year to put in the cockpit at anchor. past attendees will have other good advice.
Attendees-
Fantastic event!!! Steve, thanks again for being hostmeister. Couldn't have been any better!
Please don't forget to send me your best pictures of CLR2011 for the DVD.
The more pictures you send the better the DVD will be.
So far I have received pictures from Greene (excellent pics, thank you!). Email them to "mcarpent at columbus dot rr dot com"
or post them on photobucket and send me the link to your album.
Kick...can you get in touch with Cal about this and forward my email to him? I don't have his info (address and email)...thanks.
Also Carl, I need your home shipping address.
Fair winds, Mike and Becky
Mike,
I put our pictures on Photobucket. The link is http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd486/sbender8/. Hopefully, you can find them. (I can't figure out how to link them to a post. ) If you can't-I'll try email.
