Title: Hull Number
Post by: harrys on January 07, 2011, 06:26:01 PM
My hull serial number is ABV20043L304 so what is my hull number?  What is the breakdown?

Thanks,
Harry....

ABV is the manufacture code (hutchins in this case)
2004 is the year (I think)
not sure about the 3 and the L (I think it is the month and day it was made)

And your boat was the 304th Horizon built.

Pretty sure that is how it works.

Ahh here tis.

So I am guessing the 2004 is actually the 2,004th hull built, but still an 2004 cause the last 2 numbers are 04.

Billy, thanks for the link as I think motscg interpretation makes the most sense.  In this case:

ABV - Hutchins Com-Pac manufacturer ID
20- designation for the 20' Horizon Cat
043- hull number of this boat
L3- Month/Year of build - "L" is the 12th letter of the alphabet = 12th month of the year = December; "3" = 2003
04 = Model Year - this is considered a 2004model year boat

The last interpretation looks right. Hull number should be around 40 or so. I don't think they've gone over 100 yet. My 2007 is hull 71, HIN is ABV20071D707.

I agree.  I also have a 2004 Horizon and it's hull ID is ABV20025D304 so I guess that fits.  Nice to see some action on the site!  Got new tires for the trailer and just waiting for the spring.
