Title: First up this morning....
Post by: brackish on December 24, 2010, 02:19:43 PM
...stumbled out to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee, looked out the window and saw cars with tags from Pennsylvania, Texas, and Tennessee in my Mississippi driveway.  Means my three sons and their families are safely here for Christmas.  The only Christmas present I need.

Merry Christmas and best holiday wishes to my fellow Com-Pac sailors.

We spend Christmas Eve at my brother in laws. My daughter flew up from Punta Gorda on Wednesday. Lotsa nieces, nephews, thier kids, my mother in law, the list goes on. A little bittersweet without my father in law present and especially hard on my wife when we sang Christmas carols and sang his favorite "Silent Night". But, as they say, life is not for sissies.
Today, we have the traditional super-sized breakfast here at the homestead, my son Chris and his finace Jeannine, my mom and us. After everyone's eaten too much, we send 'em away and they all, and I mean all, return tonight for dinner.
To have family, health, food on the table and enough to pay the bills are true blessings. It doesn't hurt to own a fine sailboat, either. Here is a partial group photo from Christmas, 2009:

May you all have a wonderful Christmas!

And to make it even better, a white Christmas in Tupelo, MS.

This never happens, may be the first white Christmas here in history, certainly in my time living here.

Brack:
I think we're gettin' your snow. Blizzard conditions here in the South of New Jersey with 12-18 inches forecast. Glad I covered "Koinonia" on Friday.
Had a wonderful Christmas; didn't eat or drink too much...just enough! Best to all for a wonderful remaining 2010 and a healthy, prosperous and fair-sailing 2011.

Yes, we are getting quite a dumping up here. Fortunately for us, we have one of the bravest, strongest and most determined dogs on the planet. As you may know, the Siberian Husky is most likely decended from the timber wolf which are known killers. They are bred to endure the most severe winter conditions and thier winter coat is designed to keep out the cold while preserving body heat. They are a member of the working breed although sometimes I think ours might have been cross-bred with one of the sleeping breed back in her past.
I'm enclosing 2 photos of our ferocious beast at her best. Caution: the following images may not be suitable for young children or those who are faint of heart:

Skeered, I am!

An old friend had a husky years ago.  Very nice dog she was, and beautiful as is yours.

Watch out where the Huskies go....

Bob,

Off topic again...

Beautiful husky you have there.  Our most recent husky died about 3 years ago.  She apparently was a fresh water husky so no luck getting her to go in the salt water.  Before that we had a husky mix.

Here are a few favorite photos.

With my daughter (when she was in high school).

Looking very patriotic on Memorial Day.

Huskies are great but some owners have trouble handling them.  They are smart but they are also a stuborn breed and harder than most to train.

Merry Christmas once again.

Ours was a rescue slated to be put down although she's a purebred. Hard to train? Stubborn? Yeah, just a little but she's says the same thing about us! She had a tough time training us but eventually we learned. She's never been on the 23 but I did take out a few times on my old SeaPearl 21. After about 30 minutes of whining, she'd settle down for a nap or place herself on the bow sitting like a good lookout dog.
She's been a wonderful dog although not much of a watchdog. But we knew that going in.
