For those of us with fancy cell-phones, I've found the best waterproof case. It's the car/truck. The best deal out there is to get a cheap pre-paid phone (Wally World). When it goes over the side (and it will), you've lost maybe $20-30. An Iphone, Droid, etc. is a lot more $$$$. The non-flip type and a double zip-lock bag works great. Speaking of phones, take the time and write down about a dozen of your most called numbers, get it laminated, and keep it on the boat.
Spare ID. I went down to my friendly DMV office to report I lost my ID. I now keep my "lost" ID on the boat.
It's a little inconvenient to bring my truck along on the boat.
I bought a waterproof case from a kayak/canoe shop...works great. Totally water proof and it floats, of course. I keep that in a drybox that I take aboard each time. Wallet, keys, portable VHF, etc...
So far, I have not lost a phone aboard. I try not to use one and that's one more thing I like about sailing- being unchained from my phone.

I jumped in one time w/ the phone in my pocket. I ended up taking the sim card out and getting a "Go Phone" from Wal-Mart and using my old sim card.
Works great!
LOL...Yes I destroyed one cell phone, and expensive one to boot. Then got a waterproof one (Casio G/Z One). It held to it's claims having been submerged a few times. Tough little phone!
Just got a droid this week. It will do everything except trim the jib sheets!
Get a small kayak bag. Fill the bag with air and your phone, wallet, keys, etc, then close it. The bag is completely waterproof and will float very nicely. Tie a line to it and put a loop in it and you can swim out to the boat. I do that every now and then and never got anything wet.

BTW - The one time I lost a phone it was on my belt and I was moving between the boat and dock so I think I know where it is now. I think the two years was already up and I could get another free one with a new contract.
Some places that have them are NRS http://kayak.nrsweb.com/boating/Dry%20Bags (http://kayak.nrsweb.com/boating/Dry%20Bags), and other online retailers of kayak stuff. I just go to my local kayak shop http://www.goose.com/locate_us.htm (http://www.goose.com/locate_us.htm)

i use a small pelican case, i like it because i cant hear the darn thing ring but it's always there if i need it lol
Smart, Steve. I like the way you think. I keep mine in a drybox which, in reality, is not all that dry.
I also can't hear it ring. When one can get away from one's cell phone, it's a good day!

Maybe get a Blackberry.
Mine went for a refreshing swim as I jumped into the water to unwind the painter from the prop. It was a sunny, breezy day so I pulled the battery and dried it out - worked for another two years.
