Title: TINKERBELLE
Post by: Bob23 on September 27, 2010, 05:23:46 AM
While cleaning out my father in laws house during a family dumpster-day, I came across this little paperback on it's way to the dumpster. What a fasciinating book! The story of Robert Manry's single handed voyage across the Atlantic in 1965 in a 13 1/2' wooden boat, that boat began life as a daysailor. He bought it, learned to sail, took his family on many overnights and decided to follow his 30 year dream of a crossing.
He did his best to make her seaworthy and building a small cabin was paramount. Adding a daggerboard was also important.
Rather than spill all the beans here, just find a copy of this little gem and read it. It even contains a few black and white photos.
Another bonus of the book are the glimpses it gives of life back in 1965.
