Title: A new source to feed my addiction of pocket cruisers
Post by: romei on September 22, 2010, 07:04:15 PM
I check out the sailboats on ebay at least once a day, specifically the pocket cruisers.  I also check the free sailboat listing tool, sailingtexas.com and craigslist if not daily, almost daily.  When I've seen everything there is to see there then I just google for sailboats.  I start to get bored with all the American Catalina, Macgreggor blah blah blah sailboats and most start to all look alike to me, except of course for our beloved Compacs, but even after a while, the Compacs all start to look alike.  Oh, look there, another Compac.

I like weird, unique boats.  Ones that you don't see every day.  That's why I converted my CP16 into a gaff rigged cat boat and it's why I bought an Alacrity 19 and built a gaff rig for that too.  I started taking a liking to British built sailboats with their high free board, roomy interiors and bilge keels.  You can practically live in a British built 17 footer.

Anyway, I had a bright idea today and went to England's ebay and I'm really hooked now.  http://motors.shop.ebay.co.uk/Sailing-Boats-/1297/i.html

I'm fairly certain that the next boat i buy for my fleet will be bought there and shipped here.  I have 4 boats now.  Why stop there right?

Hi Romei,

Lovely website.  The first boat I thought I wanted was a Lymington Slipway, the idea being that if I owned that I would never need to buy a house!  It is rum time.

I can recommend keepturningleft http://keepturningleft.co.uk (http://keepturningleft.co.uk) and bill's blog http://bills-log.blogspot.com/ (http://bills-log.blogspot.com/) as great sources for like minded boating. I'm a brit in USA so these sites remind me of home.
