Title: Spring for CP-19 Aluminum Adjustable Motor Mount (AAMM)
Post by: DOUG142 on August 04, 2010, 09:20:00 PM
Does Anyone know where one, me, could buy a new spring for my AAMM on the "new" com-pac 19 that we have.
Previous owner tied a cord to pull up with to "assist"" in raising the motor.
Help would be appreciated greatly as we really do not want to buy a new motor mount just because of the weak spring.
Thanks,
Doug

I need one too. I'm going by the Hutchins factory Friday morning and I'll ask Gerry. He usually just has a bunch of stuff like that laying around.

Billy,
Did you have any luck with finding the springs?
I emailed Garelick who makes that one or one similar and was told they do NOT sell springs to consumers due to liability reasons.
Fulton also makes one similar.  I haven't gotten an answer yet.

Doug,
I'm so sorry. I was so happy to be picking up my boat I forgot to ask. I just sent Gerry an email and expect he'll probably reply Monday morning. I'll let you know what he says before I have him order one.

Again, I'm sorry I forgot.

Here is my response from Gerry....

"The bracket is probably a Garelick brand if it has not been replaced.  Check out

http://www.garelick.com/product.php?pnumber=71057 .

Your bracket  would be the #71042.  They must sell parts somewhere on their website.  Other than that I do not know where you would get parts."

I'll check later today. Let me know if you find anything before I do.

This came up awhile go.  Garelick will not sell parts but they will rebuild the mount, at least that was the story told last year.

Doug, you can always shim the spring with small washers to increase tension on the weak spring.  The mount on my old 16 had a weak spring (and clunky, worn out parts in general) so I just got a new bracket.  Much smoother!

Could not get anyone to sell me just the spring.  So, Sweet Dreams is now sporting a brand new outboard motor mount.
doug

Have old one if anyone needs a slightly used motor mount with weak springs.

Glad to hear of your new motor mount. Funny you should use the phrase "used with weak springs." That's exactly what some people say about me!
