Hey guys (and gals) - I'm looking to install reefing hooks on either the gooseneck or the boom for my CP-19. I recently purchased a new mainsail from Doyle that has SS eyes connected by a strap that goes through a grommet near the luff end of the sail (about 4' up at the reefing point). Do any of you ComPac owners have reefing hooks already installed? If so, please post some pictures so I can get an idea of where I want to mount them. Keep in mind that I already know my boom is set up for roller reefing; I'm not interested in that and am looking for jiffy reefing.
Thanks all!!

Top has the pin for the full sail tack ring, and the reefing hook on the side. it is mounted on top of the gooseneck.

HideAway has a reefing hook but the darn thing is so hard to use I just cleat it off to the mast. One of our club members has tied two SS rings - one on either side of the sail with the spectra line holding them together. This makes is much easier to connect to the small reefing hook. I haven't tried it yet. It must work though Nikki a Cape Dory 28 just won Boat of the Year for the West coast of FL. I have witnessed Bruce reefing using this method -- it took him 15 seconds - takes me longer than that to just stand up- Matt

Hey brackish, thanks for the quick reply. Can you post a pic showing how the tack reef hook fitting (your first picture) is mounted the gooseneck? I'm not quite following where on top of the gooseneck you mounted it. Many thanks!!
JustStartin, Boat is 35 miles away at the marina, don't have a picture of that, will get one next time I'm there, however, IIRC there is a hole in the bottom of the bracket and the same pin that is the swivel between the slide section and the boom attachment part of the gooseneck holds that bracket on. The top piece (tack pin and reef hook) can swivel independently so that you can set up to reef on whatever side you like best I guess.

I understand, thanks brackish!
