I've been having a real hard time with utube/google. My utube password suddenly became extinct. Utube claims since I log in via google I have to reset my password there. Problem is I have never used google to sign in so they have never heard of me. Worse the google help desk response was less than encouraging They thanked me for my concern then stated and I quote "Please note that we won't follow up individually unless we require more details or have additional information to share with you." I have not heard from them since but now believe there are no humans working there anyway.
The gist of this triad is that I have established a new Utube channel called SVHideAway1 Note the 1. I am rebuilding the site and all new videos will go there. I ve also established a channel on Viemo under the same name but I m not so impressed with it yet. Does anybody know of another video hosting site?
My latest video Bay Sailing is at this url on utube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZA3Nok1vICA
It was filmed the same day we did Sailing With a Loose Foot and shows the self steering device we use - If only I could get Linda to let go of the tiller! Matt

"Bay Sailing SV Hideway" - thanks, I needed that. I sold my boat a month ago and am having serious withdrawal.

Frank, only one cure for that. Buy another one.
Frank:
If you're near NJ, you can catch a ride on my 23 to hold you over till you get another one. Life's too short to be sailboatless.

I don't ask. She can't say no if I don't ask, right? Of course, eventually the ---- hits the fan.
I have a Force 5 for sale, if that helps.
Tell your wife that she should consider herself lucky that you only need 2 boats. Currently, I have 4 including the rowing shell and the tender for the 23. And I still look at the ads everyday.

There is the old adage, "Begging forgiveness is easier then getting permission". As Bob23 has alluded though, if used too much there can (usually is) unpleasant consequences. How about, "But dear, the dinghy is just an accessory of the other boat. Like a house and a yard, a car and a driveway, kids and toys. They just go together." If you can maintain a straight face, that might help too.

Yeah, yeah...blame old New Jersey. We're tough- we can take it. Do you fly a small plane? My brother in law just flew his Sirrus up from Houston on Wednesday. We were gonna go flying today but instead had a great sail on my Koinonia.

Maybe do what I did when I bought my Force 5. I didn't ask, didn't tell but finally realized that I couldn't keep the secret any longer. I had it stashed in a friends garage. Finally, I just blurted out "I bought another sailboat." "No you didn't." "Um, yeah, I did." " No you didn't." " Linda, I really did buy another sailboat." Even after showing it to her, she wouldn't believe it. Finally, I got through to her, rationalizing that although I have what seems to be an incurrable boat habit, that she should look on the bright side: I didn't go out drinking every night (or any night), I didn't run around with wild women, and I don't spend all day Sunday watching football.
My failed diplomatic tactics didn't go over very well, so in a last ditch effort to rekindle what little trust was still there, I name the boat after her "Linda Gale". I didn't work.
I still have the Force 5 (for sale) and my wife. I saw a nice small catboat for sale the other day. Hmmm...I wonder if I can play that same card again!
