and this is what it looks like now. I took 1/2 painted mdo ply wood fit it into
the cut outs, then i glued, screwed, and bolted it all together with 3/4 on the aft side and more
1/2 in. on the forward.

I used the old tabs in the sandwich of ply wood. then caulked it.

and on the post area i used 3/4 ply and i upsized the bolts to 3/8

se ya !!
Good job!! And only you know where the boo - boo's are! LOL
Skully; A backing plate, lock washer, nut, and a nylock nut to hold up the compression post??
That's like a belt and suspenders...
"Say it ain't so" How much compression are you going to put on this poor thing?
How tight are you making the standing rigging?
Make 'em tight enough and you can push the mast through the bottom of the boat.
I see inspection plates port and starboard under the vee birth cushions.
Storage access? Good Idea.
You know, I'm looking at this and you would have made faster process
if you used a real 5 lb maul instead of a rubber jobby. He hehehehe.
Just pulling your leg. Really did a fine job.
skip.
thanks skip
inspection plates were to just to get the job done and may come in handy later.
ya little over kill on the hardware. (:-)
