Ahoy!!! new here and just introducing myself. I hope to get involved and learn alot about these beautiful boats. I have MANY questions and a few contributions. I have owned a 1983 19 (LOVE IT!!!!) for 2 years and I just bought a CP16 about 2 months ago (haven't sailed it yet no trailer). Welcome.  You'll certainly find this forum to be a lively and informative one.  So why did you get reverse 3 foot-itis?  We all seem to be heading the other way.   Search the site for posts regarding photo posting.  There are several that give step by step instructions.  It may look difficult, but it is pretty simple once you try it.  (Right Bob?)  Use the Testing topic to play away.

   Bob23 here, and I'm owned by "Koinonia", 1985 23/2. Once you spend some time here at the site, you will realize that you no longer need to seek information anywhere else for here dwell some of the most informed, seasoned and sometimes opinionated folks that you'll find anywhere on earth. Or beyond, for that matter.
   There is an intitiation rite that I'd be happy to introduce you to. To prove that you are worthy to mingle with this bunch of scrappers, you must agree to sand the bottoms of all Compacs within a 500 mile radius and bottom paint promptly afterward. Also, large quantities of beer must be provided to the skippers of said vessels. Simple enough, and we've all had to do it, right men?
   Sorry I'm outside the 500 mile radius...I love free beer!

That's right Bob, with regard to the initiation.  And although I live outside the 500 mile radius, I will be towing to within that circle in the near future, so Billy, put me on the schedule for a bottom job and I like Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale.

The photo posting is relatively easy, there is a step by step in the image gallery section of the forum.

In Bob23's case, we believe it is not the photo posting that is the issue, several of us have concluded he has not yet mastered the use of a digital camera.:)

Since it's 38 deg F and a 17 to 20 mph wind out of the 'Nort' I have no desire to play with the boat today. I dug it out of winter storage yesterday as well as the Model "A". So I have some computer time.

Welcome aboard Billy, "we have the technology" to assist in those glorious Com-Pacs that you discovered. A CP-19 and a CP-16.
Get your avatar set-up and any photos for the post need to go, for instance, to Photobucket or any other on line photo hosting outfit.

When posting from Photobucket the 'DIRECT' address needs to be SELECTED, COPIED, and PASTED between the [ img *  img ] which is done where I put the asterisk. I can't actually show you how to do this without creating a box with a red X in it. And the IMG IMG is not exactly what you'll see either for the same reason.

But where you want to place the photo stop the cursor, then mouse over to the tool bar above the post and right next to the red and yellow pinwheel is a yellow bottom and green trees and blue sky kind of thing that will say 'Insert Image'. Click that and the img img will appear and that's where you'll paste in the photo. If it does not look right after posting then then click 'Modify Message' make the correction and click post again.

Do the spell check, quotes and be copied and pasted without using the 'Reply with Quote' thing that puts the quote into a box. That's hard for me to read.
Colors can be changed, fonts made larger or bolder, verbage can be centered up as can photos, photos stop the color change so text above and below the photos need both to be selected for color change.

Love the red sails Greene! And it's not that I have reverse 3-footits, I'm going to keep the 19, I just wanted to sail the Clark Mills design and a 23 was too big. I love the size of my 19 I just wan't something that heeled a little more with a little less weather helm.

Skip, Thanks for the instructions, I'll try to go through them step by step, seems pretty simple. Also I noticed that you are one of the main contributers here. I definitely appreaciate your input and advice.

Bob and Brackish, I guess if everyone went through the hazing I shall too. So any compac sailors in FL, GA or AL let me know I better get started right away!!! After all if everyone else did it....

One last thing, I used to own a Mastercraft ski boat, but about 3 years ago when gas went up to $4 a gallon, I sold it and got my 19. Seeing as how gas was a huge factor in my switch I decided to name her "Passing Gas". I think it is a funny name, but not as classy as a Com Pac name should be, soI'm open to suggestions for new names. The last owner didn't have a name and before that she went by Happy Days, which I'm not too fond of.  Thoughts???

Welcome aboard Billy. I've had several boat names in mind over the years. My favorite is reserved for our next, hopefully retirement, boat. But one of the possibles was "Knotayacht". Or any variation thereof.

Thanks for the info about the sailing squadron!!! I'm definitely going to join. I saw the pics of Lake Tarpon, I live on that Lake and it will be the new home for my 16. My 19 will stay on the trailer in my back yard. The 16 for the lake and the 19 for the gulf. Mostly.......
