does anyone know about what the max hull speed you could expect to get from a legacy all things
being done correctly
Hull Speed =1.34 x Square Root of LWL = Knots..... 1978 CP16 is 5.013 knots or 5.76 mph.......Phil

A sailboat may exceed hull speed depending on conditions, e.g., I sailed a Pearson 35 for 20 years, (with a waterline of 25"), on Lake Erie. Coming back from Put-in-Bay to Toledo, with 10' (really) following seas, we exceeded 10mph often; my sportyak dink was beating us as as we surfed down the 10' seas. I am now in central Florida and sail a Com-Pac Suncat and it is a GREAT !!!!!!! sail boat.
With such a short water line all Com Pacs except the few long ones are rather slow but comfortable.

I too sail a Suncat in central florida, and concur that this is a great sailboat. Where do you do most of your sailing? I have been on the ICW and Lake Fairview recently. Looking forward to a great season here.

Our lake is Lake Louisa (Clermont), but our lake is down 5', I have a lift but can't put on..been to Clearwater a couple of times (Seminole Boat Launch) which is great, have been wanting to get on the Harris Chain at Tavares, (Lake Harris), but not yet, plenty of water there. Been there with power boat and lots of water. Sanford, Lake Monroe, looks good also. Daytona Beach, Halifax River, could be good but don't know yet, looks restrictive. Tarpon Springs, Anclote River public launch is really great, been there many times, looking to launch there this spring.

We do a lot of our sailing with the Suncat on the Indian River, launching here in Titusville. Plenty of water here. Will be sailing on the Harris Chain of Lakes at two of the regattas that the Central Florida Yacht Club puts on in the spring. Join in-it;s great fun!
