Title: Boom Vang Attachment
Post by: hugh on January 24, 2005, 04:21:27 PM
What method are folks using to attach a vang to the base of the mast?  I was thinking of an oblong padeye attached to the mast similar to the way the downhaul cleat is done.  There are a couple of holes in the tabernacle but this doesn't look strong enough to me.  Any suggestions or photos would be appreciated.  Thanks.

My cp-16 has a u-bolt type bracket on the mast step and a matching one on the boom.I plan on posting some pictures soon.I don't have the vang itself though.

Check in the Sailors' Lounge section under "Boom Vang for CP-16" for a variety of methods, some with pictures.
