Title: Anyone want to sell me your CP19/II or III?
Post by: Salty19 on November 03, 2009, 11:06:55 PM
Well friends, my CP16 will be sold to my brother any day now, and the hunt has begun for the well earned CP19/II or III  !!  Anyone have one that's in very good shape hull/structure wise w/o fiberglass repairs willing to sell? My price is flexible right now, it will depend on the year/condition/options/location, etc.  Prefer newer/more options but will consider a sound boat in need of TLC.

Can't seem to find one that's available in very good shape hull wise (no repairs, holes, blister). I take that back there's one in Belize for sale :) The wife wants to go look at it :)

Yes, the mint gem 1990 with every option you can imagine sold in Springfield, IL for $7,300 recently. Whoever got that boat I guess I was a day late and regretting it :(

Thanks all...call

Mike:
A friend here  in N is moving up to a CP27 and will have his 19 for sale. I've seen it, sailed on it and drank beer on it...it's a nice boat. I don't know how far you are willing to travel, but reply back here and I'll email you his address...you guys can talk turkey.
There was also one for sale here in NJ that I was looking at a while back. Don't know if she's still available but if she it, I'll get you the info.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your reply!  Driving to NJ is no problem at all.  I was born in NJ :)  Only a day trip from Ohio.

I would love to talk to your friend about his CP19.  Yes, please forward me his contact info at the email address listed in my first post.  Much appreciated and owuld be honored to sail a boat that you drank a beer on!

The one you looked at I already called about--sold!

Thanks, David, I appreciate the well wishes.  The wife and I are super excited about the boat.    I'll post up pics in a few days. First I need to polish out the gelcoat and finish cleanup.

This boat is a one of kind.  It has a custom hull color (teal-blue) with large white waterline stripe/gold graphics, teal fabric cushions (fabric appears to be very good quality), stern rail seats (yeah!),  custom color sail and tiller covers, and most of factory options (genoa, winches, lifelines, stanchion, swim ladder, etc (all Stainless).  Speaking with the prior owner and Hutchins this morning, the hull color is a one-off that was not part of their custom colors available.

This boat was not used until 2003 (stored under shrinkwrap from 1998 to 2003).  Since then it was daysailed only and never moored.  The bottom is still fresh teal tinted gelcoat that looks brand new.

Hull # 603, formerly named "Renovo".  The wife is coming up with a new name.

Congratulations Salty 16, (or is it Salty 19 now).  I looked at "Renova" fairly carefully from a full set of pictures that the former owner sent to me.  It appears to be a great boat in great shape.  I was fortunate enough to find a 23 locally so didn't pursue the 19, but I really liked it and the hull color is quite unique.

Indeed...note my user name has been changed to reflect the new boat :)

The boat is in very nice shape with the exception of hull oxidation.  It should be, it's only been trailer sailed for 7 seasons.
I'm going to rub it out this week to get the luster back! Then I will post pics!

Frank, how about "Salty II", should have a poll on selected names for your boat since we all have been in on your journey from the beginning.....Phil

i have to say the naming of the new boat should be a no brainer. something with "becky" in it. she is a sweet gal who deserves the honor.

SALTY

DON"T DO IT!

Don 't polish that hull yet. I think you need loads of practice and my '84 is ready to be practiced on
until you get t right....  I would hate to see you over polish your new prize,
so come out to Maine and polish away...

I don't really mind !  honest

Bob:
You are such a self-less man and I agree. After he's done with your boat, why, its' a short hop down to NJ and my 23 always likes to meet fellow Compac skippers. I'll even supply the wax and beer! Such a deal!

You guys are way too generous to offer your boats for practice :)  I appreciate that. The holiday season must be coming early this year!

Hey Steve, I asked Becky to come up with the new name to reflect our "personal style".  She came up with "Euphoria" so far (Jimmy Buffets' first boat name).  But I want something more original and fun.  Thanks for the kind words, I absolutely got lucky finding her!

I like the idea of a poll too...thank, Phil.  By they way my name is Mike.

SO my wife said that she heard that boats should be named after
the wife... I told her I had heard that the boats were typically named in
memory of people (aka... dead wife)

We stopped the conversation there...

Here is a sight (site):

http://www.coolboatnames.com/

I burst out loud in my office because the first name that came up
was "Wet Dream"

sorry... I would blush ... but... I am laughing too hard
I had to close the door in my office...

There are about 1000+ names and I guess people have rated them so you should find something there...
There was another  site with 10K names

There is also a "procedure" for renaming the boat otherwise the ocean gods will cause you endless
grief so I will look that up...

My wife named our 19.  She said, "All you ever say to me is ' let's go sailing!' ". So she named the boat ' S'Go '
