For many older Com-Pac's, and mine certainly qualifies, the original factory hardware worked well and remains useful.
When an additional rope clutch became necessary for the asymmetrical spinnaker I wanted to stay in the same era, same style, and same expectation of performance. Read: Stay Vintage. Oh nothing wrong with the new rope clutches, that actually work better but they are...well too new for me. But I'm a guy who drives a 1930 car.
The best part about attending a National All Sail Boat Show in Chicago is visiting the vender's and here is where I found the Spinlock booth and although the old rope clutch was not displayed nor there to buy, it was in the catalog and I ordered one for the starboard side of my cabin top.
It works well and keeps the boat vintage.
