Morning Light Sailing Movie and TransPac 2009
Boating and Sailing News - 18 Jun 2009
Contenders large and small are readying for this year's TransPac sailing race, ranging in design extremes from the ultra-modern Reichel Pugh yacht Alfa Romeo, to Lynx, a traditional tall ship. This crewed yacht race from California to Hawaii has been around since 1906, and is well known by Pacific sailors. However, a movie released last year documenting the '07 edition of the race has brought this year's TransPac quite a bit more attention than usual, and this week's DVD release has thrown gasoline on the fire. Boating and Sailing News - 16 Oct 2008
Some of the YachtPals Crew were invited to a special pre-release showing of the new sailing movie Morning Light a few days ago, and we were delighted to be joined by Roy Disney himself, as well as filmmaker Leslie DeMeuse and crew member Piet Van Os, to discuss the film after the showing. If you haven't heard the buzz about this flick yet, you will soon, as competitive sailing is about to splash onto the big screen.

We rented the DVD this summer. It was interesting and fun to watch, but I'm not sure non-sailors will enjoy it as much as I did.
Thanks NateD. I thought it was enjoyable. Got my mind onto the water and driving a sailboat. Thanking about pushing a hull through the water with minimum fuss is pretty cool. So many people never have tried sailing. My dog, Logan and I walk the resort docks around Sturgeon Bay and make 'fast friend' with fishermen, kids, or just vacationers and some take me up on the offer to go sailing in the evening after work. Or on the weekend. I do it for free but a few tips have come my way as well. Logan stays home. He is not a sailor. skip
