I have no idea or under standing of the PHRF ratings and how they apply to various boats.
Anybody help me with this.

I read where the PHRF for the Com Pac 16 first built in 1974.  Is 326. So?

Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) is a handicap system used in yacht racing in an attempt of allowing dissimilar classes of sailboats to be raced against each other. The smaller the PHRF, the faster the design. The PHRF for the Sun Cat is listed in the US Sailing page (*) at 318.  What it means is that on average, if a Sun Cat were to race against a Sonar 23 (Bruce Kirby design, PHRF=174) it would be relegated 144 seconds behind (i.e., 318 - 174 = 144) for every mile raced. The Sun Cat is not a fast racing boat! but again, Clark Mills never meant it to be... It is also not the slowest: Neptune 16 PHRF=336, Cornish Crabber PHRF=360, Nordica 16 PHRF=390. The Com-Pac 16 shares the same PHRF value of the Sun Cat.

So OK thanks for the heads up. Low numbers = fast boat.
So how large a number those twin-canted fixed keel sailboats are that come from the U.K.
They are slow. Like a "slow boat from China".

Reading the story of twin keels referenced above I see...this. "The circumstances were not the best when B?tnytt test sailed the Alacrity on Sunday, February 16th off Langedrag in Gothenburg. It was -6 degrees centigrade and a 10-14 knots of wind, plus some really irritating snowfall. However, we got a quite clear picture of the boat and it's characteristics. The verdict is that of a easily handled, relatively fast and agile, comfortable and stiff little sailboat."
