Hello all. I am a 47 year old IT guy living in upstate New York. This June I will be driving to Erie, PA
to pickup a 1979 Compac 16. It belongs to my father, but he is getting up there in age, and wants
to pass the boat onto me. I was 17 when he purchased his boat. We used to trailer it behind a
Datsun 510. Late he would keep it at the local marina. He has been sailing it for 30 years. I hope
to continue sailing her on the small kaes we have in upstate NY.
I hope to continue sailing her on the small LAKES we have in upstate NY.
Been a long day.
Great sailing in Erie PA. I've been down there a couple of times sailing around Presque Isle Park. Very nice beaches too. Where abouts in upstate New York do you live. I live on Grand Island, it's a suburb of Buffalo.
Welcome to the site JeffMiller
No need to welcome you to CP's, how special to have your dads boat that he has owned for 30 years.

The boat was kept at the marina on Presque Isle. She'll now be kept up here in Washingtron County.
Sail her on Lake George, Saratoga Lake, Glen Lake
I grew up on Oneida lake and wonder to this day why there is not more sailing on her. She is 5 miles across and shallow on all sides, with that said, she is always windy. I now live in Florida and wish I had had a compac 16 when I was growing up. it would have made a great boat for the lake. In a gale she would just blow up onto the sandy beach and I could get out and walk for there.
Have fun.
A Genoa and IdaRudder might be the best things you ever invest in, if she doesn't already have them.
