Wish to announce the launching of a 1981 Compac 23. This boat has been on the hard for about ten years and is in great shape save for a large ten year congregation of what we call mud daubers' nests. Real mess but now cleaned up. The location is at Blackbeard Sailing Club, situated on the Neuse River across from New Bern, NC. I sold a larger boat with the intent of downsizing and, having heard nothing but good about the 23, bought the boat. The only tide on the Neuse is by wind and at the moment, the SW wind has blown the water out about three feet resulting in the boat sitting on the bottom at the moment. That plus an unseasonable chill prevents me from being out sailing.
jcatkeson,
Congradulations on the launch. About that chill, try a good hot tody, a warm blanket and a good sailing book, works every time, so I've heard.

All old COM-PACS need a loving home. Hope you have many years of sailing joy with her. BILL
Jcat:
You will love your 23. Mucho congrats!
Bob23...getting ready in NJ
My 19 remains in her slip year round, and we, each spring, clean out the daubers. The admiral, the best half, and the instinctual inclinometer says:"put some screen in the f'oard vent!" . But those buggers get though the tiniest gap. I just vacuum them out as needed.
If one could get them to church, they would be a congregation
Tim, I put a solar vent in the front. So far it has done well, and you can close it completely off. Before that I just plugged it.
