Title: Bought a new (old) boat..
Post by: Bob23 on February 26, 2009, 08:40:34 PM
Yep, I gone and done it. I always wanted to own a Porsche automobile or BMW motorcycle. Probably won't ever own either but I just acquired a 1979 AMF Force 5 sailboat. Closet thing and maybe more fun. Kinda like a Laser on steroids. Should be fun and fast. I may tow her to the upcoming 2009 Tice's Shoals Roundup. (More on that later.)
Fairly lightly used and in good shape although, wood freak that I am, I just had to refinish all the mahogany with Cetol. A bit of waxing up and a few new lines and she should be good as new.
My wifes name is Linda Gail. In a desparate diplomatic move, I offered to name the boat the "Linda Gale". She was not impressed. Wondered how I could spend the family food moneyon yet another boat. Well, we all eat too much anyway!
Bob23...not in the dog house yet!

Picures soon, Greg. She's still in the process of becoming beautiful.
It's a good thing I don't have too much work right now...all the boats are demanding attention and dare I not give it to them? The Annapolis Wherry that I row is going through a cosmetic makeover. She should also be quite nice when I'm done. WILL I EVER BE DONE????
Bob23...never done but ready for fun!

Bob- ya done good!! The Force 5 is a great boat- very fast and stable. We used to toast Lasers with our old F5 up on Round Valley Res. back in the 1990's. The Star Ledger took a pic of me w/Santa hat sailing on Christmas Day at RVR way back when I was skinnier and more agile. Believe it or not, I traded the F5 plus a metal lathe for a 1977 BMW R75, so maybe the two are indeed somehow related!! The bike is long gone, but fondly remembered, as is the F5. Catch you soon.

Iv'e looked at so many beemer-bikes on Ebay in the last year that I lost count. Maybe some time but for now the Tundra will have to be my ride. I'm still working on the Force 5 makin' her pretty. It's stashed in my brother-in-laws garage in Waretown.
I'd love to tow it to the 2009 Tice's Shoals Roundup...let's develope this, eh?
Bob23...off to dinner and to celebrate my son's girlfriends just landing a very nice job.
