Title: Potcake Boy requesting permission to come aboard
Post by: Potcake boy on August 01, 2008, 09:06:55 AM
I am Ron Weber - I live in Punta Gorda Florida. Have been sailing since a teen (that's a good many years now) and spent a good bit of that time previously on the Chesapeake Bay. I am now in Florida and just beginning to enjoy the sailing here.

I acquired a 2001 CP19 in January and have been refitting and refurbishing her in between a few weeks in the water. Amongst others, I have previously owned a CP 16 (1984 new) and more recently for a year or so a PicNic Cat (fun little day sailor.

I have recently gone to a two day a week work schedule and believe I will finally have some time to commit to my passion. I have never had much interest in sailboat racing, my pleasure is cruising - exploring new places and new experiences so the more time the better.

Looking forward to regular participation on this forum - and happy to offer any assistance within my capacity - don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers and a handsome breeze to all,
Ron

If you are in Southwest Florida, please give me a shout.

Welcome Aboard Ron!!
This is a great group of knowledgeable sailors... and a few newbies like myself.  When you get a chance, why don't you post some pictures of your boat?

Welcome aboard!
If you get over to the East Coast (Ft Lauderdale) area give me a shout.  Biscane Bay will be a great sailing area for your CP19. I had one before I got Miss B. (a CP 27) and loved it. A Black Point launch and sail to Boca Chita, then an anchorage at No Name Harbor should be on your future itinerary especially during the week, weekends get a little crowded for me but is beautiful during the week.

Glenn,
Thank you, it took countless 6 day work weeks to get here.
Remember - God gives you only so much time to live but doesn't count the time spent sailing.

Ron,

Welcome!  I hope to see photos and read of your sailing adventures in FLA.  Please feel free to chime in when advise is needed.  Sounds like you have a lot of experience.  Fair Winds,
