...But if I was to buy a different boat I would look at the 26 or 30 foot Hinderhoffen Nonsuch boats out of Canada. That one big cat rigged sail and the mast forward allows for two cabin layouts, a standard and a Ultra. I like the Ultra with its huge main saloon. Our well seasoned friend Cleda, who's father was Mr. Palmer Johnson had a custom 33 ft Nonsuch built with carbonfiber spar [an extra 5 foot up] and wishbone boom. Boy was that a fast boat. skip.
Obviously cost is not a factor for you! ;)
Oh wait, you said look at not buy. I looked at Pacific Seacraft before buying my Com-Pac and I can say cost was the number one factor ;)
Oh yes, obviously. One 30 for $28 is not too bad. Heck I bought my Mercury Montego awd car for around $32k but take off the trade from that.
So you agree it's a nice boat? Can't come close to any Pacific Seacraft, not even a Flicka as there three sitting on cans within less then two miles from me Right NOW! skip.
A Nonsuch 30 for $28?!?! Thousand? I've never shopped for one but that sounds a little light.
Oh, I'll agree they're nice. Probably a lot nicer than any abused Pacific Seacraft. But, I'm not going to carry the Pacific Seacraft flag in any debate about which boat is better. I just like them because they've co-starred in a lot of memorable stories I've heard and read.
Heck when was that boat built?? Twenty five~thirty years ago. Westerbeake and packing may be a little tired but the spar is the less and shorter desirable aluminum as it the wishbone, It smells of diesel and is sooted up below deck, exhaust leak...anyway needs a year of TLC. I love the boat though.
