Title: I just bought the boat and the challenge.
Post by: Mister Bee on April 16, 2008, 07:50:10 AM
As I post this, my new 2007 Legacy is being readied at Lake Chautauqua. I have never owned a sailboat before. Over a year ago, while approaching the age of 65, I discovered that sailing was "something I wanted to do". I've been around long enough to know that such impulses can be fleeting. I have had a great time researching sailing, sailboats, and the people who sail. Took lessons, and spent fours days on A Catalina 27 up in Annapolis, with my best friend who races there. Got a taste of the second coming of Captain Bligh. The big boat show was going on, and I saw the Legacy for the first time.  It was about then that it was beginning to dawn on me that small boat sailing was a growing and wonderful joy and culture that I was drawn to. Now, after knowing that my impulse was not "fleeting", I went ahead and did it. Bought the boat and the challenge. Perhaps I can share, as time goes on, what a neophyte learns, and how he learns it. So happy to be part of this community.

Welcome aboard Mister Bee. And many happy hours of sailing and boat tinkering to you!

It's good to see that the Legacy has hit home for some people. I think it is a great boat - well designed and executed.
For those who don't already know, the latest issue of Small Craft Adviser features a comprehensive review of the Legacy.

If any of you don't already subscribe, do so now. Small Craft Adviser is absolutely the best small sailing craft magazine out there!

Thanks to both of you! I have been picking up Small Craft Advisor at my local Barnes and Noble. Love that magazine. I can't wait to read the review of the Legacy.
