Post by: DOUG142 on April 01, 2008, 06:11:31 PM
Looking for any and all info about Lake Winnebago in North/Central/Eastern Wisconsin.
Any info such as launch sites, fees.
Good resturants.
Places to avoid.

Trailering our CP16, Summer Escape up there sometime in May or June for a week or long weekend.
Thanks for the assist.
Happy sailing.

My wife's family had a 32' parked there for years in the harbor at Fon du Lac. That's all I know. But I live 45 minutes from there, and if you're going give me a call or email. My email is lostlakeaero@powerweb.net

I am taking the Coastal Cruising Certification class sometime this summer in Ludington, MI so that will take a few days of vacation, especially if I sail from WI to MI. I don't have a lot of spare time this summer, but I'd relish an excuse to go sail with you!

Lost,
Thanks , I will be sure to email you before we set a date on going up to Fond Du Lac and Lake Winnebago.   Surprised that you have not sailed it.  Maybe this Summer.

Good luck with your certification.  Make sure you tell us  all about it.

I think I have you already in my email file from previous emails.... roller furling or something.

I will get back with you soon.
Thanks again,
Doug and Linda

Could be, I want to sail with Skip this year too. You know how summers are though, and my kids are just getting to the age when they have a million things going also. Every weekend we have to choose something and sacrifice other things...

Sailed my CP16 on Winnebago several years ago.  It's a challenge as I recall when the wind picks up.  Launched at Neenah where there is a sheltered inlet with a small yacht club.

Lake Geneva is a good sail also.

John J,
We will be sailing out of Fond du Lac.  The yacht club there has contacted me with some usefull info.
What was the challange on Lake Winnebago?  The wind waves?  This will be the largest body of water that we have sailed on.

Did Delevan Lake last season.  To many LARGE power boats making lots of waves and coming real close.

Geneva is similar, they run 50 boating accidents a year, mostly due to the fact they rent boats to non- trained boaters.  Add booze and guess what.  We would love to sail Geneva, maybe on a weekday not on a weekend.  It is only 12 miles from where we live.

Hope to meet up with you this Summer.
Warm up!!! Snow is now gone.....yippppeeeeee !!!

Happy sailing,
Doug and Linda, Cp 16, Summer Escape
