The porta pot goes in the space behind the step you use when you enter the cabin. We had two porta pots we got with campers. One was smaller than the other. It fits entirely in that space out of the way. The bunk rails keep it in place. I found no need to secure it in any other way when sailing. The larger one would not slide into the space. So, just measure the space and note the size of the porta pot you plan to purchase.
