Hi folks,
The CP19 review article is in the can, and has been shipped off to GOB for editorial review. There will probably be a few more changes before it is published early next year. I'd like to thank all of you for your assistance and enthusiasm. I may be back to request some of your photographs to help illustrate the article in the event my editors feel a few more are necessary. My own photographs are adequate, but they were taken on a rather dreary, overcast day with very little wind, and the magazine may feel they would prefer something a bit more colorful and exciting. I'll keep in touch, and in the event I do use any of your pictures, I will make sure the photographer is given appropriate credit.
It was a pleasure to review the CP19, although I knew the boat by reputation, I was also quite impressed with it close up. I did my best to give a fair assessment of the vessel, and I'm sure you'll agree my review is a generally positive one. I have sent a copy of this letter to the "other" Compac forum, with the same sentiments.
Thank you again for your support.
Fair winds and following seas...

Henry -
I feel responsible - and must ask you to allow us 19 owners to preview and "vet " your article. I can only hope you concur.

Dear Tim,
I regret I cannot release the article for general review by the public. It is now the joint property of Good Old Boat magazine as well as the author's.
However, I can report that Mr Gerry Hutchins of Hutchins Co. (the manufacturers of Com-Pac yachts) has reviewed the text for technical and historical accuracy and he is pleased with it. He was also interviewed during the preparation of the article, along with designer R K Johnson, NA and both contributed to the article's final form. I have written GOB articles about both Com-Pac and Island Packet yachts before, and I feel I have a good insight into both firms and their products.
I also relied on R F Burgess' "Handbook of Trailer Sailing" as well as private communications with him and with several CP19 owners, and discussions with Dan Snook, the test boat's owner. I will, of course, accept full responsibility for any statements made or conclusions drawn in the article.
On a personal note, my impressions of the boat were very favorable, and I would not mind owning one myself. I also believe I communicated this in the article.
