Title: Registered, but no Verification email?
Post by: CaptK on August 02, 2004, 02:53:12 AM
If this seems to have happened to you, its likely that the mail was blocked by email spam filters put in place by your ISP. Generally, the mail will bounce back to me, and I will then manually activate your membership. Look below this post for a message with your user name in the heading. Then, try logging in with the User Name and Password you provided. If it works, I have already activated your membership. If not, post below, and I'll get you set up.

Thanks!

Kurt

Should be OK now. Use the original password. Seems if you stay away too long, you drop your active status. Easy to reset.

Title: Problem activating my account - Paul Carew

Problem activating my account - Account: Paul Carew

I registered, but can't log in.

When I hit the submit button, I saw an error asking me to contact the site admin, but no matter how hard I've looked, I can' find a link or an email address to do that.

The account looks like it exists. When I try to log into it though, I get the message that my account is inactive?

I have received no email either to activate my account.

I can't log in to verify that it has the correct email address (although I am pretty sure that I entered it correctly).

Help, What can I do to resolve this?

I got the same messages on a few posts.  They posts all seemed to go in fine.  I had to remove some duplicates so I'm guessing a few other people have seen the same problem.  Only Kurt has access to the source so I can't tell what line 164 in the PHP code is trying to do.

I received notice that I have to change the DNS pointer for the site, so I think that we are getting a hardware change at the hosting company - perhaps this is related, but that's a guess on my part from the smtp part of that error message.

A couple of weeks ago, the hosting company did some "upgrading" to the email apps on the server, apparently (or: the server had some problems related to the email apps), and it has caused some glitches with the email end of things. Friends have told me that they are getting bounced messages from my address, but I have been receiving those emails regardless.

Hopefully it'll be worked out after the new DNS resolves.

Title: Am I in limbo?
Post by: George M on July 22, 2005, 06:16:02 PM
I tried to register, got an error screen, and tried again.  Then the screen said the email address is already in use.  I tried a "lost my password" request, resulting in a message that my membership is inactive.

I'm now very puzzled.  Is there a manual (delayed) response to registrations and I just need to wait or what?  I've not received a welcome email -- maybe I need to wait for that.

I'm just not sure I was successful at all in my attempt to register.

Post by: crbakdesign on July 24, 2005, 01:57:59 PM
Hi George,

I reset your user status to active.  I believe you are registered under gmilburn.  Go ahead and use your previous password.  If you need a new one let me know.  It seems that the software in this bboard is set to make anyone  who hasn't posted in a number of months inactive.

Let me know if this works.

Try it again with your original password and let us know if it works!

After a while any inactive sailor is automatically assigned to the inactive list.  Just a quick switch allows us to get you on board again.  Must be some kind of a filter to keep the headcount real.

CB

PS This only works for the Forum, if you need to post in the Classified section or Images, you need separate registrations.  I just register using my same userID and password to keep from confusing myself.

Hi Robert,

The registration process is automatic with your input. There is no manual activation by an administrator.  In fact, we all be sailors here. :)

The process is as follows:;;

Once you register, you will receive this automatic email to your email address which is generated as soon as you register:

Welcome, USER (Your UserID)!

Your username is:  (Your UserID), and your password is (Whatever you entered – case specific)

In order to login, you need to activate your account first. Please
follow this link to do so:

Your activation code is: (some random number automatically generated)

Regards,
The com-pacowners.com Team.
&&&&&&&

Outside of the usual glitches that may occur in the ether world, the only reason I can see for the email not arriving is if your address doesn't work.

Try it again and if it doesn't work, send me an email through the site  with the userID you used to register and I'll work with you to get you aboard.

Just email me.

Thank you for any help that you can give me.

Hi Robert,

I checked your registration and confirmed an email address so I activated your account. You may want to check the email address in your profile to be sure it is correct.  This is the most often reason that activation emails go overboard.
