Iam looking for ideas from someone who has added a block, cleat, etc, to run the main halyard aft the the cockpit, similar to the CP16.
My jib is a roller furler no all I really am interested in is the main Halyard.
Thanks in advance, Gil
Gil,
My CP19 has the ability to run 3 lines aft -- it was set up this way when I bought it and is great since i single hand most of the time. The 3 lines depend on how the head sail is configured. Initially I was sailing with the jib (no furler) and a jib down haul. Then the 3 lines are 1) jib halyard; 2) main halyard; 3) jib downhaul. Early in the summer I changed to the furler, so the 3 lines are 1) main halyard; 2) furler out; 3) furler in. The main halyard comes down to a block mounted to the deck then runs to a 4 block deck organizer, then back to a 3 line clutch mounted to the deck just ahead of the winch on the port side. I've got a photo that shows the hardware, but I don't know how to post a photo. I can email the photo to you if you like.

Jeff emailed me the image and it shows a very creative way of moving several controlines aft to the cockpit on a CP19. I posted this image in the Gallery in the CP19 File.
Happy New Year to All, Gil
Well on Comfort and Joy, both halyards leave the masthead and travel down to pulleys on the deck. Then to a deck organizer on the port side of the cabin top and a straight shot to two mechanical rope cleats.
The cleat holding the headsail halyard stays locked down all seson long. We just spin the furler.
I have found that I can even use my winch to snug up any of the two halyards down stream of the rope cleats. That cool! Then I can tighten up the down haul if needed.
I did add on the starboard side the same set-up for the spinnaker halyard and all the extra lines I coil up and hang from vertical bulkhead of the deck house. I might have pictures of this set up on http://Frappr.com skip
