Does anyone have a recommendation for a good stern ladder for a CB-16 CB ?
I think that they are essential for safety but my boat didn't come with one. I'd also like to know if it is necessary to beef up the mounting with additional backing material.
Interesting, I thought all 16 cb's had a ladder. You can get one from Hutchins (my old price list shows $260.00). I don't believe there is any additional mounting on the rear of my 16 CB. I'd call Hutchins to confirm however.
IMHO, a backing plate would not hurt. Hope you're not claustrophobic. I'm not that big, but it does give me the heebee geebee's being head first in the berth. ::)
Thanks. I don't think I'd make a habit of going in head first, but unless I can find some to do it for my, I'll do it myself.
I checked wwith Com-Pac and $260 +shipping was what they wanted. (It seems a bit pricey to me.)
and they said that the transom was reinforced but I like the idea of putting some plywood or a SS plate to beef it up. The image of some one climbing up the ladder and ripping it out of the stern is not one I care for.

As I recall, the stern is reinforce with plywood. That is, plywood sandwiched between fiberglass. Seems like my hardware has short SS plates as backing plates. Just remember to seal the hardware well. They probably used the ubiquitous 5200.
