Title: Outboard Motor Mount
Post by: Killjoy on September 18, 2007, 09:18:09 AM
I posted a couple of pictures to the gallery of my boat to the gallery. I wanted to show the mount I made for my outboard. It's just a piece of 2x8 pressure treated board connected to the winch mount by 2 u bolts. The duct tape was just to hold it in place while I mounted the bolts, but my belief is that I should let it stay until it falls off as it isn't hurting anything and might help. It helps get the weight forward while trailering and I secure it with a bike lock so it doesn't "grow legs" when I stop for bait or lunch. It also allows enough room for me to place a 5 gallon paint bucket under it so I can flush the motor when I get back.

Outboard mount: sailing my CP 19 on Lake Conroe I use an electric troll motor in place of heavy gas outboard.  It can be mounted to the rudder to give "Power Steering" .  Wonderful manuverability around the marina. 2 golfcart batteries (in a PROPER BATT. BOX) fit behind companionway steps. Be sure you have the uptodate bronze rudder bushings.
