I've just "downsized" from an O'Day 222 to a 1980 Com-Pac 16. What a great little boat! I do have a couple of questions.
One of the previous owners changed the mainsheet position from the end of the boom to the middle, with a pad eye located on the step leading into the cabin. A little inconvenient for getting in and out of the cabin, but a nice arrangement for single-handing with all sheets lined up across the cockpit in roughly the same spot. My question is: Is there any real difference in handling or performance based on the location of the mainsheet on the boom or is it just a matter of preference?
On mooring, I leave the boat hooked up to the pendant using the bow eye...but it's quite a reach since it rests at roughly the waterline. How are others mooring their 16s? I was thinking of a second line to leave attached to the bow eye that I would use to connect to the pendant...
Thanks in advance,
Carol.
Welcome to the COM-PAC family. It seems like the newer boats are like that, I think they do it to help get a better shape pulling down like a boom vang. I know somebody on this site may know the right answer. HAPPY SAILING BILL
