Title: motor braket issue with my CP-16
Post by: kldubois on June 05, 2007, 02:55:09 PM
Just launched my CP-16 at Pennekamp here in the Keys and safely arrived at my home. Rigging has gone well. My issue is the outboard motor and it's mount. I have a Suzuki 4HP 2 stroke. Runs well. I think it is too heavy. The mount, even though spring loaded, will not come up into top position even though it works well without the motor. Do I need heavier springs. Is the motor too heavy. Or, am I just too weak? Joe in Key Largo.

Just my humble opinion:  for the 16, if the motor is over 35-40 lbs, then it's too heavy.

Also, check if it's binding when the motor is on it.  May simply need adjustment/lubricant.  I have found that, even with my Honda 2HP, the bracket will feel "sticky" and not want to come up easily.

My motor bracket was made by Garelick.  They do sell replacement springs, etc.
