Title: Soon For Sale: "Near New" CP-23D
Post by: CaptK on September 19, 2026, 12:23:28 PM
Note: Please do not post this publicly elsewhere, at least for the next couple of weeks. This will be posted here and over at the TSBB, so that any interested Members in our "family" :) get to hear about it first.

I'll post more details, pics and such later this week. Short version is that "Blue Heron" was left in my marina pre-Covid by original owner, while enroute to Annapolis from Hilton Head on his brand new boat. For some reason (health issues?), he did not return.
Marina managed to get in touch with family a couple months ago, we learned then that the owner had died. His family needs to sell the boat as none of them are in a position to keep it.
With no one to tend to the boat much over the years, she sat unused and un-taken care of. Over the time with several storms and hurricanes, she took some damage - primarily in the bow area, the 'sprit itself and a ~2' section of the hull/deck join.
I'm currently getting her back in shape so she can be moved to a new home post-sale (should have her ready within a week or two), and will be handling the sale for the family. WRT price, they know that Dad paid ~$55K for the boat, but I have informed them that the market is very soft right now. I'm expecting their asking price to be half off of the original price, or less.

She has a Yanmar 2YM15 with - get this - only 24 hours on it. The oil in the engine is so clean I thought it had none, until I felt it when I touched the dipstick...
Sails (main and furling genoa) are like new WRT fabric and seam condition, there are some small pale stains from mud daubers and such, and a few very, very small punctures of 1/4" or less, perhaps a half dozen. Call them overall "95% new".
Furler appears to be in good shape despite 'sprit damage, and standing rigging is all good. Some running rigging will be needed, due to mold and mildew.
Hull is dark blue gelcoat which needs polishing, and has some rash and scars from the aforementioned storm experiences, when she tangled with other boats and/or the dock. The worst of this is, as you may guess, up at the bow. There are a number of gouges there, and 2 or 3 are thru the blue, cosmetic only tho' and not impacting structural integrity of the hull.
Bottom is foul, she'll need hauling. No trailer.

In short, if you have ever wanted a CP-23D, this one will be the best "bang for the buck" that you are likely to ever see. Shoot me a message if interested.
