Title: Bent mast
Post by: Zach Selden on April 12, 2026, 08:54:54 PM
I hit a tree branch getting to the ramp today and bent my mast pretty badly.  Anyone know where or how to get a replacement?

The current first post in the lounge is discussing this.  Up until very recently Dwyer masts supplied com pac masts, however, it appears they no longer will be doing this.  Hopefully there will be other options, or at least compatible masts available.

Measure your mast, we may know of a source for DM-275 (1.75" x 2.75"). D&R Marine's O'day Javelin mast looks like it could be DM-275, as we think their boom is. Available length TBD.

If you can confirm that a Javelin mast would be suitable, there may be another vendor nearer you. Shipping will always be an issue.

Thanks for the suggestions....I found a company in my town of Gainesville, Florida that can fabricate a mast in 2-4 weeks.  US Spars

Price seems reasonable at about $1400.  I'll let folks know how it works out, but seems like a good resource for this group.

Thanks, Zach. We look forward to hearing how it works out! Sorry you damaged your current mast, we all know how that can happen.

The generic cross sections don't seem to relate to any Dwyer extrusion I've seen, but if you're getting a fully outfitted mast, that I assume is true at that price, that may not matter. You won't be using your current fittings. Others may find a need for those in the future, certainly hang on to them!

I do notice that when I enter Compac under Manufacturer on the Masts page, only Com-Pac models 25 and 27 show up. We don't know the dimensions of your mast, but I'm sure you've been assured that this will be suitable for your Legacy.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi, Zach ~ I'm so sorry to hear about your Legacy's mast and the tree branch situation -- so glad (and relieved!) to hear that you found a company to help you out with a replacement -- please definitely keep us posted on things go with the new mast and your experience working with the company as you progress through the ordering/delivery process -- and of course, how it goes with stepping it for the first time, too.
