I communicated Tuesday morning with Josh and he hopes to back in Oriental on the 20th. I plan on meeting him on the water to welcome him and celebrate his circumnavigation. I plan on getting as many boaters out there I can to escort him in.
Fantastic, Carl!!!! So wish that I could be there!!! If you can, would love it if you could get some video of him arriving -- will you meet up with him out on the water with your Orion or the 19?
I just chatted with Josh, via Instagram, the other day; sounds like he is coming back on to my podcast for the third interview installment once things settle down for him. I can't wait to talk with him about his journey where we left off in Cape Town. Also, I believe he's already sold his boat! I wonder who the lucky new caretaker will be?!
He will be coming up Adam's Creek from Beaufort and I plan to meet him where Adam's Creek meets the Neuse River in my Compac 19.

How are things shaping up, Carl, for Josh's arrival? Still on for the 20th for the festivities?
Bad weather had him heading to the Bahamas. I believe he is now headed for fort pierce waiting for a weather window.
This is from Josh on Saturday, April 18th ...
"I took shelter in Cross Harbor, Great Abaco Island. 25 56N 77 17W. The plan is to stay here a few days, departing on the 22nd after the Nor'easter passes over. It's around 600 miles from here to Beaufort. So, with the Gulf Stream giving a boost probably 5 days. Right now the next Nor'Easter looks like it will arrive on the 27th which would stuff me on arrival. I'll be watching the forecast closely the next couple of days."
Thanks for the update, Carl! Where are you getting the info -- Josh's FB? I have him on my Instagram, but have not seen any updates there. I am not on FB.

I plan on being out there to welcome him home.
Cool, crazycarl -- please tell Josh "Congrats!" from me and that I'm ready, whenever he is, to have him back on the podcast for the wrap-up interview of the MGR!
Will do Chelle
A town wide announcement went out to meet Josh at the mouth of Adam's creek tomorrow around noon. Josh is in Beaufort tonight and heading our way tomorrow morning.
I have the Compac ready to go. I'll be casting off at 09:30. Winds are predicted to be SE at 6mph. Right on the nose.
We pulled away from our fair at 0920 and motored down the creek, under the bridge and into the Neuse. Sails were deployed and it became evident, they were not as predicted. Instead of SE @ 7mph, they were ENE. After tacking back and forth for 90 minutes I started the o/b and idled to the mouth of Adam's Creek. Of course once there a nice breeze developed so I continued up the creek. The 2 Flickas that were on my stern quickly caught up and dropped the hook. Needing a bathroom break I anchored near them. 2 tugs continued on to meet with Josh farther up the creek. I just now caught a visual of "Slokuum". Of course now that it's time to pull the hook, a strong wind has arrived.
More later
Don't think about it until now. You could have watched his return at towndock.net.
We are still on the dock.
