Title: 23' Changing Genoa to a Jib
Post by: DennyP on February 27, 2026, 07:34:40 PM
Hi all. I am finishing up refitting an '83-built CP23 and am considering changing what looks like a 145 genoa to a jib. Talking to a local sailmaker, he mentioned that I would need to either add another jib track or a fairlead somewhere forward to get a better sheeting angle for the smaller headsail. Has anyone changed a genoa to a jib, and if so, what did you have to do (if anything) in terms of modifying the existing track/car setup?

Thank you for any/all advice.

Denny

I added a bullseye and line clutch on the coaming forward of the sheet winch, port and starboard. It works well when I use the jib and sail on the wind.
