Title: Depth meter installation
Post by: alsantini on January 13, 2026, 08:39:08 AM
Have any of you installed a depth gauge?  I am installing one and am at the point of finding the right place to epoxy the sensor to the hull (inside).  Any ideas where a good spot for the sensor is?  The only requirements from HawkEye are Starboard side 6 inches away from Keel.  I am thinking of inside the compartment midships just in back of the compartment that has the water tank?  I will obviously try it in water before I epoxy it in place.  Thanks for any comments or suggestions.  Sail On    Al

How did you run the wiring?   I have thought about putting in on the transom but hate to drill holes.  Cutting the two inch hole to place the gauge really hurt.  LOL  Sail On, AL

I've used plumbers puddy - think they also call it duct seal to mount mine - anywhere away from the keel

well you have lots of wire for the transducer. mine shoots right through the hull just behind the keel. the wire will reach to the transom. my depthfinder is located on the transom just below the tiller. dont know if you have room there but it is easy to see there

In the 19 there is a bilge in the aft part of the keel. Mine is mounted there. Didn't have to use the offset either.
